First Grade May Newsletter

May 1, 2009

Dear First Grade Parents,

It is hard to believe it is already the month of May! Next month our year together will be completed and your child will be moving onto second grade. How quickly the year has gone by!

April was a short month. The students worked hard on writing paragraphs and using graphic organizers. We also learned about Lent and prepared for Easter. We had a wonderful Retreat with Kinder. The students reflected on Jesus and the importance of Easter.

We will be starting money in the month of May in math. Practice counting coins at home. This will help your child learn the values and recognize the coins when we begin our lesson later on in the month. We will also continue working on addition and subtraction facts.

Progress Reports will be coming home Friday, May 8th. Please sign and return on Monday, May 11th. We still have plenty of time for students to continue to improve and challenge themselves before the end of the year.

Thank you for your continued support. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Miss Jennifer Perez
