ALL athletes who intend on playing a collegiate sport at a Division I or Division II NCAA school, should register with the NCAA Clearinghouse by the end of their junior year. Please click here to do so. High School transcripts need to be sent to the clearinghouse, as well as your SAT or ACT scores. Scores MUST be sent by the SAT and/or ACT organizations. The code on the SAT/ACT for the clearinghouse is "9999"

 

Here is some general information, you as an athlete need to know about the NCAA. The attachments below go into more details.

 

NCAA Division I requires 16 core courses as of August 1, 2008. This rule applies to any student first entering any Division I college or university

3 years of mathematics (Algebra I or higher).
2 years of natural/physical science (1 year of lab if offered by high school).

The Division II grade-point-average requirement is a minimum of 2.000.

 

Only core courses are used in the calculation of the grade-point average. That would be Math, Social Studies, Foreign Language, English, and Science.

 

1)Contact period - permissible for authorized athletic department staff members to make in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations.

 

2)Dead period - not permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on- or off-campus or permit official or unofficial visits.

 

3)Evaluation period - permissible for authorized athletics department staff to be involved in off-campus activities to assess academic qualifications and playing abililties. No in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts with a prospective student-athlete are permitted.

 

4)Quiet period - permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts only on the member institution's campus.
