Montgomery Park accommodation

Sleeping – all under one roof, the accommodation centre has a “boys’ end” and a “girls’ end”, each with their own showers and toilets, separated by the hall and dining room. There are 62 bunk beds each with a foam mattress and a pillow. Campers should bring a pillow slip and either a sleeping bag or a sheet and blanket.

 There are:

·       2 rooms of 12 beds

·       4 rooms of 8 beds

·       3 rooms of 2 beds

Eating – the dining room has folding tables and chairs. If groups decide to do their own catering, the kitchen may be hired (see attachment Fee Schedule on Home page), including the following equipment:

·       Cutlery for 80 plus

·       Crockery for 80 plus

·       Cooking Utensils

·       Toasters

·       Urn

·       Refrigerator and freezer

·       Electric Stove (commercial size)

·       Dishwasher (commercial)

Please bring your own tea towels if self-catering.

There is also a barbeque which is covered by the kitchen hire fee, or may be hired separately if you do not use the kitchen.

Heating – there is a large wood heater in the main hall (firewood supplied) and electric heaters in each bedroom.

Cleaning – to help keep our rates low, groups do their own cleaning. All equipment is provided, including a large vacuum cleaner, brooms, mops, buckets, toilet paper, soap, rubbish bags, recycling and general rubbish bins, cleaning products for kitchen and bathrooms and dishwashing detergent. Because we are on a septic tank sewage system, please use only supplied products. If a group leaves the camp in a condition where extra cleaning is required, we reserve the right to charge a minimum additional fee of $30.

Please call us on (03) 6267 9233 for a booklet containing further details and conditions of hire. (This should soon be available as a downloadable attachment on the Home page).

Catering by Mission Afloat

Why endure the hassle of buying, preparing and cooking meals yourselves, and have teachers, parents or leaders tied up in the kitchen for hours when they could be utilising their time much more constructively with the group?

Mission Afloat has a very experienced cook who can feed your group with a range of delicious and nutritious meals at a very reasonable price – download our menu from the attachment on the Home page. If you let us know about 14 days in advance we can cater for special dietary requirements and food allergies, but otherwise everyone eats the same meal – we can’t do a la carte at our prices!

A full day’s catering usually consists of afternoon tea, dinner, supper, breakfast, morning tea and lunch. Most groups tend to bring their own morning tea and lunch on the first day, and leave after lunch on the final day – hence the unusual way of defining a “day”! However, we can provide extra meals at either end of your stay if you wish. We do not usually reduce the daily catering charge for meals not taken during your stay, i.e. you don’t save by bringing your own supper. If you choose to use Mission Afloat as a base for day trips, we can supply cut lunches or barbecue food as part of the normal catering cost, but if you do not want these, we’ll negotiate!

To keep our costs down, groups which are catered for are asked to:

  • Assist with washing up and cleaning up the dining room after meals
  • Serve their own continental breakfast (which is laid out ready for you)
  • Serve the prepared morning tea, afternoon tea and supper.

Do it yourself

Groups are, of course, welcome to do their own catering (if we’ve failed to convince you by the above to let us do it for you!). You can hire our kitchen and all equipment and crockery etc. for a fixed daily fee. Our cook will give you instructions on how to use all the facilities to the required safety and hygiene standards. We would ask self-catering groups to:

·       Bring your own tea-towels

·       Clean all crockery, cutlery, benches, equipment and floors thoroughly after use

·       Put recyclables in the appropriate containers, and bag and bin other waste.

·       Please DON’T WASTE WATER or POWER!
