Weekly News

Next Week:

Unifying Question:  How does challenging yourself and others to attempt new tasks help you improve as a learner?

Writing – We will be focusing on opinion writing.  Next week students will write topic and closing sentences for their opinion piece.  They will also learn about linking words.

*A paper will be sent home today that should be filled out sometime this weekend.  Students are asked to talk to a parent about family roles and responsibilities.  They are asked to record these on a chart (example: a child may be in charge of making their bed, a father may do the cooking, ect…)  In writing next week, we will ask students to write an opinion piece about how to share the roles and responsibilities between family members.  For example, if mom and dad have most of the responsibilities, the child can write an opinion piece about how a chore chart could be used to help their parents.  Please help your child fill out the chart so that they will have some ideas during their writing. THANK YOU!

Reading – We will read fiction and nonfiction texts.  Our focus will be on point of view.
