In the past spelling tests have been based on memorization of spelling words. Therefore, students aren't able to recall the words after the test and use them in their writing. This year spelling tests will be based on learning that spelling rule or pattern.
Homework: On Monday for homework, students will brainstorm 10 words that follow the spelling rule or pattern. They will bring their spelling journal back to school on Tuesday to share. They will have one other activity to complete for Spelling homework. They will return their journal again on Friday with their homework folder.
Spelling Tests: The test will consit of 10 words chosen by the teacher that we have studied all week. They will also be given 2 dictation sentences.
