Wednesday 1/27/10:  Final Exam today during the first hour and presentations of iMovie Projects for the rest of class.  Before you leave the final today, each person will hand in 10 journals, an artist statement and a grading rubric.  Each group will present the project, and hand in the script and storyboard.  Any late work must be turned in today to receive credit.

Tuesday 1/26/10: The iMovie Project is due at the end of class today, so we can watch them and grade them tomorrow during class.  Make sure all of your editing is done and saved, as well as compressed and handed into the iMovie file.  The journals, Artist Statement and rubrics are due tomorrow. Write Journal #10 today! 

Monday 1/25/10: Due to technical difficulties and time constraints, the iMovie Project will be due at the end of class tomorrow, so we can watch them and grade them Wednesday during class.  Make sure all of your editing is done and saved, as well as compressed and handed into the iMovie file.  The journals, Artist Statement and rubrics are also due tomorrow. Tuesday 1/12/10:  Big Dream, Small Screen KWL and Questions are due today.  We chose groups and began the iMovie Project.  Please make sure you begin your journals today!  Note Task 1 in your packets.

Monday 1/11/10:  We will watch and grade the Commercial Projects today.  We will also watch Big Dream and complete the  KWL and Questions, which are due tomorrow.

Friday 1/8/10:  The Commercial Project is due today.  It must be storyboarded, recorded, edited, shared, compressed and handed into the server by the end of class.

Thursday 1/7/10:  Continue the Commercial Project, which must be storyboarded, recorded, edited, shared, compressed and handed into the server by the end of class tomorrow.

Wednesday 1/6/10:  Continue the Commercial Project, which must be storyboarded, recorded, edited, shared, compressed and handed into the server by the end of class on Friday 1/8/10.

Monday 1/4/10:  Groups were assigned today for the Commercial Project, which must be storyboarded, recorded, edited, shared, compressed and handed into the server by the end of class on Friday 1/8/10.

Tuesday 12/22/09:  The News Analysis is due today. The Camera Shots and moves quiz is today.  We watched the News Briefs and graded them today as a class.  Start thinking about commercials for our next project when we return from break.

Monday 12/21/09: The News Briefs wrapped up today.  You must hand in your storyboard and script when you are done taping.  The News Analysis assignment is due tomorrow.  Study Camera Shots and moves for your quiz tomorrow. 

Friday 12/18/09: The News Briefs continued today.  You must hand in your storyboard and script when you are done taping.  I handed out your News Analysis assignment.  Do this a.s.a.p. It's due Tuesday 12/22/2009.  Study Camera Shots and moves for your quiz on Tuesday.

Wednesday 12/16/09: The News Brief and training on the TV equipment continued today.  All WJAG News programs need a storyboard and script before you may begin taping.  You should finish these up by the end of the day today.  We will begin recording News Briefs live on tomorrow.  I handed out your News Analysis assignment that you must do at home before next Tuesday 12/22/2009 when it is due.  We will also have another quiz on Camera Shots and moves before you leave for break.  Be prepared.  Please get your grade slips signed and return them to me.  Grades are due tomorrow.

Friday 12/11/09: The Slideshow Project is due today before you leave class.  I will need to check off the project requirements before you compress your final .mov file and hand it in to the server folder.  You will want to open a window with a link to iMovie HD 6 at Atomic Learning.  When you are finished, you may try to use iMovie 09 to see the difference in programs and/or make an extra credit project.

Make sure you bring a CD with one school-appropriate song and pictures on a disc, a camera or a flash drive so we can begin the iMovie Slideshow Project.  You will want to open a window with a link to iMovie HD 6 at Atomic Learning when you are working on your project, which is due before the end of class on Friday, 12/11/2009.  When you are finished, you may try to use iMovie 09 to see the difference in programs and/or make an extra credit project.

Tuesday 12/8/09: All In-Camera Projets must be complete, compressed and shared to my folder already so we can watch, review and grade them as a class today.  The Commercial Analysis is due today.  For tomorrow, make sure you bring a CD with one school-appropriate song and pictures on a disc, a camera or a flash drive so we can begin the iMovie Slideshow Project.  You will be graded according to this Slideshow Grading Rubric.

Monday 12/7/09: Everyone must finish videotaping the In-Camera Project.  It must be taped, uploaded to iMovie, compressed and shared to my folder before the end of class today at 2:20.  Please email me a link for your Commercial Analysis today.  The entire assignment is due tomorrow.  This project is worth 50 points, so it is important you do it on time.

Friday 12/4/09: Everyone must begin videotaping the In-Camera Project.  It must be taped, uploaded to iMovie, compressed and shared to my folder before the end of class on Monday.  Please email me a link for your Commercial Analysis by next MONDAY.  The entire assignment is due Tuesday, December 8, 2009.  This project is worth 50 points, so it is important you do it on time.

Tuesday 12/1/09: We also began to reviewed and took notes on Camera Shots and moves.  You will need to study these for your quiz on Wednesday.  We also discussed Storyboarding and,  after doing a practice Storyboard as a class, we talked about the Commercial Analysis, which is due Tuesday, December 8, 2009.  We will begin the In-Camera Project tomorrow. 

Monday 11/30/09: MiniDV tapes or $5.00, were due today for full credit.  As a class, we watched the Interviews you completed last week.  We graded them according to a short peer rubric.  We also began to review and take some notes on on Camera Shots and moves.  You will need to study these for a quiz on Wednesday.

Wednesday 11/25/09:
The Interviews were due today: transfer the video from your camera to iMovie, compress and share your files as Quicktime .mov files, list the interviewer first and the Interviewee last.  Save your .mov files and drag them into the MMserver.  If you still do not have your miniDV tape or $5.00, please bring it on Monday, and I will not mark it late.

Tuesday 11/24/09: Your interview groups should have completed the Interview Questions, which were due yesterday.  You will continue taping your Interviews today.  You should complete two interviews, transfer the video from your camera to iMovie, compress and share your files as Quicktime .mov files, where you list the interviewer first and the Interviewee last.  Save your .mov files and drag them into the MMserver.  If you still do not have your miniDV tape or $5.00, please bring it tomorrow, and I will not mark it late.

Monday 11/23/09: DUE TODAY are the comparing Connie Chung and Michael Moore interview styles Understanding Television, Parent Letter, Cultural Literacy Quiz and a miniDV tape or $5.00.  Your interview groups should have completed the Interview Questions, which were handed out last week.  You will begin taping your Interviews today.

Friday 11/20/09: Students watched different interview styles with Connie Chung and Michael Moore and worked on analyzing shots and angles.  The worksheet is due on Monday, along with the Understanding Television  sheet from yesterday, your Parent Letter, a miniDV tape or $5.00 and your Cultural Literacy Quiz by Monday 11/23.  Over the weekend, you should complete your Interview questions, as we will begin the Interviews on Monday.

Thursday 11/19/09: Students will watch a VHS movie: Discovery Channel School: Understanding Television.  Completely answer the questions on the sheet provided.  Please review the vocabulary words on the back of the sheet as well.  The worksheets are due when the students return to class on Monday.  Remember to get your Parent Letter signed, bring a miniDV tape or $5.00 and complete your Cultural Literacy Quiz by Monday 11/23.

Wednesday 11/18/09: Students began taking notes on Camera Shots and moves in order to prepare for upcoming projects.  Students received Instructions for the Interview Project  and took notes to get them started.  Remember to get your Parent Letter signed, bring a miniDV tape or $5.00 and complete your Cultural Literacy Quiz by Monday 11/23.

Tuesday 11/17/09: Students handed in their one-page letter about themselves. We recorded a brief interview from each student as a "get to know you" exercise. Remember to get your Parent Letter signed, bring a miniDV tape or $5.00 and complete your Cultural Literacy Quiz by Monday 11/23.

Monday 11/16/09: Class Standards and Parent Letter were handed out.  We looked at a PowerPoint of Course Expectations and Examples of projects students have done in the past.  Make sure you write a one-page letter about yourself for tomorrow's activities.  Get your Parent Letter signed, bring a mini DV tape or $5.00 and complete your Cultural Literacy Quiz.
