College Writing T2


Thursday 1/28/2010:  PLEASE make sure you read and follow the directions! Click on this document and open it with Pages.  DO NOT Open it with Text Edit.  Please type your answers in a different color and bold to make sure I can see it when you submit me your document.  This document will count as your final assessment* for the course. Save your work frequently in case your computer or Internet is slow, etc. When you are finished typing your final, please make sure you used conventional English and used spell check.   When you are completely finished with everything, please go to the top of the screen and click “File” and go down to “Export.”  Choose the file “Word DOC.” Make sure your document is named your (Last, First) name FinalT2P2CW and click “Export.”  Please attach this file as a Word.doc and email it back to me at my preferred email address. After you have emailed the attachment, you must copy and paste the entire contents of your document to your blog from Term 1.  Call your blog post “Final Reflection.”  Your blog must have working links (and pictures) that link to their original sources. Once I have confirmed receipt of your final, you should clear the entire desktop of your laptop by dragging everything except the hard drive into the trash and then emptying the trash.

Tuesday 1/26/2010:  The Independent Book Projects are due by the end of class TODAY.Make sure you turn in your final paper to www.turnitin.com AND post the final paper to your group's wiki, using a new page called Final Paper.  The final exam will be done in class with a computer.  You will be asked to perform several tasks, write answers and give opinions.  You will need to post your work to your Blogger.com blog and making working hyperlinks to your answers.

Monday 1/25/2010:  The Independent Book Projects are due by the end of class TOMORROW 1/26/2010.  All of you are required to attend class this week.

Friday 1/22/2010:  Continue reading and collecting data for your Independent Book Projects, which are due by the end of class on Tuesday 1/26/2010.  All of you are required to attend class on Monday and Tuesday of next week, as well as come to the final.

Thursday 1/21/2010:  Continue reading and collecting data for your Independent Book Project. 

Wednesday 1/20/2010:  Continue reading and collecting data for your Independent Book Project.  Your group will need to pick a topic, thesis and format for your final paper.  Please make sure you look over the requirements.

Tuesday 1/19/2010:  Everyone came to look over progress on your continue your Independent Book Project.  Your group should know how you will write your final paper by this Thursday 1/21/2010.

Friday 1/15/2010:  For those who haven't done this (check your email) take 100 points and divide those points between your group members.  Do this right away.  It's due by Tuesday at the latest.  Please begin reading and collecting data for your Independent Book Project immediately. 

Thursday 1/14/2010:  Final papers for the Literary Criticism paper are due today.  Only one person from the group should submit it to www.turnitin.com.   For the Beloved Papers, I would like each of you to take 100 points and divide those points between your group members.  Please write the name of each group member, award an amount out of 100 (so that the total for the group is 100 points), and a brief explanation about your reasoning behind the score.  Do this right away.  It's due by Tuesday at the latest.  Check your email for details. Please begin reading and collecting data for your Independent Book Project immediately.

Tuesday 12/22/2009:  Everyone met today to watch and discuss the Beloved movie.  Your one to two-page Literary Criticism summary is due today.  Please make sure you post your paper on the correct page in the wiki AND hand it in on paper.  Make sure you have a Works Cited page.  Vocabulary must be posted to the wiki before you leave for winter break today by 2:20 p.m.  Study guide questions, characters and setting will all be due when you return on 1/5/2009 by 2:20 p.m.  Rough drafts for the Literary Criticism paper are also due on Tuesday 1/5/2009.

Monday 12/21/2009:  Everyone met today to watch and discuss the Beloved movie.  You cannot watch the movie if you don't have signed permission slip. Your one to two-page Literary Criticism summary is due on Tuesday.  Please make sure you post your paper on the correct page in the wiki AND hand it in on paper.  Make sure you have a Works Cited page.  Vocabulary must be posted to the wiki before you leave for winter break tomorrow: 12/22/2009 by 2:20 p.m.  Study Guide Questions, Characters and Setting (are all assigned to someone, so each person has five posts to make) will all be due when you return on 1/5/2009 by 2:20 p.m.  Rough drafts for the Literary Criticism paper are also due on Tuesday 1/5/2009.

Friday 12/11/2009:  Friday groups came in to get back their rough draft of The Kite Runner Argument Essay.  Please pick up your copy a.s.a.p.  You have a lot more research and editing to do.  The drafts were quite rough.   The final is due next Thursday.  The more you work on it, the better you will do.

Thursday 12/10/2009:  The Kite Runner Argument Essay is due today, and you have a test. 

Wednesday 12/09/2009:  All of your discussion questions on Ning.com and any additions to the Kite Runner wiki must be done by today at 2:20, or you will not receive credit.  Your test is tomorrow.   REMEMBER: the rough draft for your Kite Runner Argument Essay is also due tomorrow.

Tuesday 12/08/2009:   Kite Runner Group Projects were presented today.  If your project is not PUBLISHED with a link on the wiki, I cannot grade it.  All project must be published and have a working link on the wiki before I grade them tonight. REMEMBER: the rough draft for your Kite Runner Argument Essay is due this Thursday when you take your test.  (Check your email for vocabulary words.)  Any additions to the Kite Runner wiki must be done by Wednesday at 2:20, or you will not receive credit.  All of your discussion questions on Ning.com must also be answered by 2:20 on Wednesday. 

Monday 12/07/2009:   Monday writing groups came in to gather research for the  Kite Runner Group Project, which you must have complete and ready to present tomorrow.  REMEMBER: the rough draft for your Kite Runner Argument Essay is due this Thursday when you take your test.  (I will email you a list of words you must know for the test.)  Any additions to the Kite Runner wiki must be done by Wednesday at 2:20, or you will not receive credit.  All of your discussion questions on Ning.com must also be answered by 2:20 on Wednesday.

Tuesday 11/24/2009:   Narratives rough drafts are due today.  Make sure your essay has a title, follows the directions and is in MLA format.  Please continue to add to assignments related to our Kite Runner wiki and gather research for your  Kite Runner Group Project.

Monday 11/23/2009:   Monday groups came in to work on the Narrative, which is due tomorrow.  Make sure your essay has a title, follows the directions and is in MLA format.  Please continue to add to assignments related to our Kite Runner wiki and gather research for your  Kite Runner Group Project.  For tomorrow, make sure you are about halfway through the book.  We will discuss what has happened so far and answer any questions you might have.

Please start adding your work to the wiki a.s.a.p.  Do not wait until the last minute to do this.  It's best if you get your work done ahead of time.  That way your peers will be able to use the work to study.  Also, remember that if you do not do your work on time, I will allow other students to take your points.

Thursday 11/19 & Friday 11/20:  Students are not required to attend class, but you may come in to use computers and the classroom.  Please use this time to gather research for your  Kite Runner Group Project and to continue assignments related to our Kite Runner wiki.  Continue to read your book and complete your draft of the Narrative for us to look over.  The rough draft is due on Tuesday 11/24/2009. 

Wednesday 11/18/2009:  Everyone must come to class today to discuss The Kite Runner Group Project and the assignments as they relate to our Kite Runner wiki.  You are not required to attend class tomorrow and Friday, but you are welcome to come in and work on assignments and use the computers.  Please check your email for your writing groups and daily schedules, which returns to our regular routine on Monday.  Monday group people would be wise to bring a draft of the Narrative for us to look over before the rough draft is due on Tuesday 11/24/2009.

Tuesday 11/17/2009:  Everyone must come to class today and tomorrow.  I will be gone Thursday and Friday for the NCTE National Convention; therefore, those two days are optional for the first week.  Please check your email for your writing groups and daily schedules.  You will also find your vocabulary words and study guide questions on the spreadsheet attached to your email.  Two assignments are also attached to your email for you to think about as you continue reading The Kite Runner and adding to the Ning discussions.


Monday 11/16/2009:  Everyone must come to class Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.  We will discuss our new term: schedules, expectations and assignments per your comments on last term's final evaluations.  I will be gone Thursday and Friday for the NCTE National Convention; therefore, those two days are optional for the first week.  After the first week, we will get back to a regular schedule.
