The Latest From the Construction Site
This fall Haiti suffered mind-numbing destruction as four hurricanes blew through the region, two dealing devastating blows. Two months later people are still homeless and starving and some of the over 500 dead have still not been buried. Haiti will not move out of the path of hurricanes but well-trained Haitian engineers will build levees, well-trained Haitian farmers will stop soil erosion letting well trained Haitian Agronomists feed and fuel their residents. This starts now when amazing groups like FATEM build a library and a handful of volunteers from the prairies chip in and stock that library.
The Mirebalais Education Project Society in Calgary wants to raise awareness and resources for this worthy cause. Our goal is to send a 20 foot freight container filled with French books, learning materials, computers and medical supplies to Haiti in early November. A fundraising dance and silent auction is being held on November 1, 2008 to raise the money to cover the transportation costs. Your donation of an item for the auction will help us reach this goal and bring French and a brighter future to the community of Mirebalais, Haiti.
