Thank you to Bethel, St. Scholastica, Macalester, UofM Crookston and UofM Twin Cities for participating in the first MCEC retreat. It was a great success. Bemidji and Carleton, you were missed, but here's a recap of what we accomplished.
- The morning started out with a little history of MCEC and a presentation from Timothy on how to collect baseline data. The baseline data form can be found under Get Involved --> Forms.
- Adrienne gave a presentation on the website. Each school will have access to editing its own school page. For detailed instructions on how to begin this process, look on the Documents page under Toolkit + Resources.
- Linda introduced the bike terms of use, which will be available under Documents soon. Whichever school wins the competition this year will keep the bike blender next year, and we'll continue to pass it around accordingly!
- We had pizza for lunch and some multi-school cooperation to make smoooooothies!
- Christie Manning gave a presentation on the Psychology of Sustainability, which will hopefully help all of us to create successful energy reduction campaigns.
- We headed over to Timothy's for a Cooperative Energy Futures workshop (cooperativeenergyfutures.com). We learned how to apply V weatherstripping, plastic window insulation and rope caulk for cracks. Now we'll all be able to bring this hands-on learning back to our campuses.
Once again, thank you all for participating. We hope you got a lot from the experience. We certainly did!

Welcome to MCEC 2010!Hey everyone, we're so glad that you're interested in the Minnesota Campus Energy Challenge. Welcome to all newcomers and welcome back to those of you who have participated before. We're kicking off this year's challenge with a new website (taadaa!), which will facilitate dialogue between schools and also between members of each school.
When you join us for MCEC, you will have your own page that can serve as a blog, calendar of events, a place to publicize campaigns and anything else you can think of. We hope that you make it your own. |
