Mines and Wines 2010 Field Trip - Wednesday 22nd September 2010
8:00 AM Start at carpark Parklands Quality resort
This year's field trip will travel south from Mudgee through the Hill End trough, past the site of the discovery of the famous Maitland Bar nugget to Hargraves and Hill End.
After inspecting recent exploration activities of Hill End Gold and historic sites at Hill End we will travel via picturesque and historic Sofala to Ilford and the Windemere Dam where spectacular folded sediments and volcanics will be seen.
The tour will then turn north along the Castlereagh Highway to historic Gulgong and inspect the rich deep lead gold sites in the area before looping back to Mudgee for the Conference Icebreaker.
Its a must to learn about the geology of the area and recent exploration successes.
