Lots of kid-friendly explanations, charts, practice questions--and hilarious zingers from Monty Armstrong (veteran AP giant in the photo below :).
Students picked the name of a saint or sage of the Axial Age (c. 600-300 BCE) and discussed important philosophical issues "as" their person. Objectives: Gain a deeper understanding of these key historical figures, such as Socrates, Buddha, Confucius, & Lao Tsu, and have fun while we're at it!
Students participated in a debate based on "Urban Coffeehouses: Brewers of Controversy" by Deborah Johnston. The charges: Coffeehouses pose a threat to the social order worldwide, disrupt traditional patterns of life, have an advserse economic effect, serve an unhealthy drink invented by non-Christians, and serve as a forum for sedition against the government.
