André Cepeda
 

André Cepeda was born in Coimbra in 1976 and lives and works in Porto.

He collaborated with Encontros de Fotografia de Coimbra (1991-1994). He attended the photography course at École des Art d’Ixelles de Bruxelles (1995-1996). He worked as technician at the laboratory and at the digitalization department of the photographic archive of Centro Português de Fotografia, in Porto (1997-1999). He trained printing techniques with Guilhaume Geneste, “La chambre Noire”, Paris, (1998) and was invited to participate in the workshop for young photographers, ASEF, Singapore (2002). He was responsible for the image treatment and digitalization of the project www.anamnese.pt (2003-2006). In 2006 he founded the Blues Photography Studio. He exhibits regularly since 1999, when he was artist-in-residence at Espace Photographique Contretype, in Brussels. In 2001 he received two relevant commissions: the first one from the programming of Porto 2001 – European Cultural Capital, through Centro Português de Fotografia/MC, and a second one from Encontros da Imagem, through the Museu da Imagem de Braga. He becomes scholarship-holder from Centro Nacional de Cultura in 2002, and, in 2003, he takes part of another artist-in-residence, this time in Viseu, at António Henriques Galeria de Arte Contemporânea. In 2007 he was selected for the EDP Prize for young artists.
