The Magpies are a new Aussie Rules club based in Galway in the west of Ireland.   • North Leinster Enter ARFLI Fray This weekend's Lightning carnival in Islandbridge will see the dawn of a new era as a new team enter the Jeep Premiership fray. Regular readers will no doubt have noticed that the Midland Tigers and West Dublin Saints have had their struggles of late and in order to guarantee football for all those who want it and a stronger premiership the two clubs have merged at least until the end of this season to form the North Leinster Kangaroos. It will be straight into action for the new side too as they open the carnival at midday with a game against the South Dublin Swans.   • Magpies continue their march on September The Magpies continue their march on September with a hard fought win over the Leeside Lions at the weekend. With a few late omissions the Magpies managed to travel to Cork with a 16 man squad for their clash against the Lions. The match was always going to be tough with both sides competing for top spot on the ARFLI ladder and from the first ball up the intensity was palpable. The first quarter was a hard fought 17 mins of football with both teams committing themselves at every opportunity and trying to exert dominance. The pressure continued all day.
