Saturday June 11 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. First Scottish Country Dancing Session Terry in Flood Arena in the Sports Center Concentrating on sociability, phrasing, and partnering.
10:45 – 12:00 p.m. Second Scottish Country Dancing Session Terry in Flood Arena in the Sports Center Explicit work on general technique, from the feet up, including incorporation of footwork into figures and figures that could use touch-up or teaching before the ball.
1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Music Lecture: “Tune Flavors” Barbara McOwen in Dance Studio A talk about putting tunes together into dance or classic listening/session sets.
2:15 – 3:45 p.m. Third Scottish Country Dancing Session Terry in Dance Studio Focus on technique that will be useful at the ball, either echoing figures from the evening dances or doing a harder dance from the ball to bring it up to a good technique level. Sue in Flood Arena (with recorded music) A social class consisting of intermediate to advanced dances devised by Sue. Anyone taking this class should be an intermediate-level dancer and feel confident with figures such as the bourrel, diagonal rights and lefts, ladies chain, the knot, and all variations of reels. There will be minimal walkthroughs - about one per dance.
Sunday June 12 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Fourth Scottish Country Dancing Session Terry in Dance Studio (advanced technique) Advanced technique, probably work on technique in advanced figures from fun dances. Sue in Flood Arena (with recorded music) A social class consisting of easy to intermediate dances devised by Sue. Anyone is welcome to attend this class and dances will be walked though as needed for people to feel comfortable with the dances.
10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Fifth Scottish Country Dancing session Terry in Flood Arena in the Sports Center A general social with fun dances for all to enjoy. Teaching will include geography and mentioning fine points, but the focus is on social fun. 5/3/11 NM |
