Inter-counties Fell Running Championship

posted 25 May 2012 08:26 by John Falvey

Middlesex men achieved a best ever 4th place in the Inter-counties Fell Running Championship near Buxton in the Peak District on Saturday.

The demanding course over 7.5 miles/12Km included the cream of Britain’s fell runners, including 2011 National Cross-country champion (2012 silver medallist) and local international athlete Steve Vernon who took individual gold ahead of Middlesex and Thames Valley Harriers star Chris Smith who took the silver medal for the second year running, ahead of Andi Jones. Welsh international Richard Phillips of Serpentine was next for Middlesex in 19th place. Chris Beecham of Highgate Harriers was 65th (13th Vet 40) to complete the scoring team with team manager and running reserve London Heathside’s Andy Owen 85th (17th Vet 40) out of 243 finishers.

Greater Manchester won the team race ahead of Yorkshire and Lancashire - medals eluded us this time but are definitely in reach!

Important update on SEAA U15 & U20 Inter-Counties Match

posted 24 Apr 2012 14:14 by John Falvey

As Saracens have now started work at Copthall the stadium is most unlikely to be able to stage any athletics meetings before 15th June and this presupposes that the weather does not hold things up too much.

In view of this the SEAA U15 & U20 Inter-Counties match has been re-scheduled to now be held at Abingdon on Saturday 26th May.

Selection for U20/U15 Inter-Counties Match - 26th May

posted 22 Apr 2012 10:49 by John Falvey   [ updated 22 Apr 2012 10:51 ]

If athletes wish to be considered for the Under 20 & Under 15 county teams at the Southern Inter-Counties match, they should enter the County Championships as this will be used as a basis to select the team.

This is particularly important as the SEAA match follows less than two weeks after the County Championships thus the team will be selected immediately after.
