Here's our minutes from our meetings this semester (Fall 2010)!!!
 
  • 09/07/2010 - First meeting of the semester!!!
Summary:
Pizza and soda was purchased to welcome new members to MSA.  The meeting began with officer introductions for the semester, followed by new member introductions.  Plans for the upcoming semester were discussed, including brewery tours, a chesse factory tour, various guest speakers, and a group trip to a sporting event.  Emphasis was placed on members having fun with MSA this semester and utilizing each other for any questions that they may be able to help each other out with.  Finally, the meeting closed with T-shirt sales to new members at discounted prices of $1.00 for older shirts or $5.00 for the newest T-shirt design.

  • 10/8/09 - Colorado Center for Medical Laboratory Science
Summary:
Guest speakers, Barbara and Sandy, from the Colorado Center for Medical Laboratory Science, came to talk to us about their school down in Denver.  They discussed the available opportunities the campus provides as well as the process of application and finance.  If you are interested in getting into clinical sciences and medical labs, please visit this website for more information: http://medlabed.org.

  • 11/5/09 - Dr. Sandra Quackenbush
Summary:
Dr. Sandra Quackenbush was our guest speaker.  She is an associate professor here at CSU lecturing for the course Medical and Molecular Virology (MIP420).  She is the Department Head of the MIP graduate program as well.  She came today to present information about her research topic involving viral pathogenesis, notably viral-induced oncogenesis.  She also answered any questions involving the admissions of graduate school (M.S or PhD).  For more information on admitance to graduate school at CSU, visit this website: http://www.cvmbs.colostate.edu/mip/Graduate/Default.aspx

  • 02/11/2010 - Dr. Hana Van Campen
Dr. Hana Van Campen, an associate professor at CSU, presented "My Life as a Pet Detective" in MSA.  She supervises the virology, virology/serology and molecular diagnostic sections of CSU's Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and participates in the field investigations of suspected viral diseases. Her presentation is primary focused on bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV), a pathogen of western beef cattle as well as her current research project, which includes the pathogenesis of BVDV fetal infections, and the epidemiology of BVDV in feedlot cattle and in wildlife. We also had pizza, sold T-shirts, and took fees.
