Morning Workshops, 9am - Noon

Camtasia Workshop:

The Basics

Learn the basics of creating and editing your own videos. TechSmith will provide its expert training staff to help you learn!

Wolfram Alpha Workshop

Wolfram|Alpha is a free computational search engine that combines data, CAS, and natural language input. Instructors have concerns about appropriate use, especially in online and hybrid courses. However, W|A can be a valuable tool for us to connect a variety of mathematical concepts and incorporate more applications from the real world. We’ll work together to figure out what W|A can do and discuss how we can begin to use it appropriately in our math classes.

Lunch: Noon-1pm, Cost: $15

Afternoon Workshops, 1pm-4pm

Camtasia Workshop:

Advanced

In the afternoon, learn about advanced techniques, such as creating closed captioning on your videos or adding quizzes.  Here’s your chance to ask all those questions you’ve been accumulating for years!

Using the Internet to Spice Up Your Math Class

If you’ve been trying to figure out how to “catch up” with technology, here’s a chance to make at least one leap forward. Learn about existing web technologies that you can begin to use in ANY of your math classes.  We’re going to “play” math and technology for three hours, so be ready to have some fun!

Tours of MCC's Math ELITE Classrooms, 4:00-5:00pm

MCC has just remodeled two classrooms specifically designed for teaching mathematics with active learning. These classrooms are called ELITEs: Engaged Learning Interactive Technology Environments. If you'd like to see the rooms and how we're using them, we'll give tours!

Friday Evening Social, Cost: $25

Tour of the GVSU Alternative Energy Center, 5:30-6:30pm

Catered Dinner, 6:30-7:15pm

Evening Speaker: Judy Penna, 7:15-8:00pm
