TEAM INFORMATION (Teams -- please read every item carefully!)

  • Unlike the Qualifying Tournament registration, there is no registration required for the Championship Tournament. Your qualifying tournament host will tell us which teams advanced. Just show up on December 4.
  • Doors will open at 7:30 AM so teams can get moved in and set up.
  • The tournament will take place in the Field House. If you are carrying anything into Lakeland High School, you can NOT use the main front glass doors. Teams MUST bring all their belongings through the east doors by the tennis courts.
  • Food policy at Lakeland High School.
    • Concession stands will be available and will be open during the event between 7:30 am and 3:00 pm
    • If you choose, you can pre-order your team's lunches with the Lakeland High School Boosters. To expedite things, we suggest that you pre-order your lunch using this order form (this is a Word file). The orders will be ready to pick up at 12:15 pm at the concession stand.  There will be a variety of breakfast, lunch and snack items to purchase.
    • Outside brown bag lunches ("lunch bag" size brown bags) are allowed.
    • No coolers. They'll need to be kept in your vehicles.
    • No crock pots or other devices which heat or cook food.
    • There are limited "picnic" area seats where teams can sit and eat.
  • Registration fee is $50 per team. We accept cash or checks made out to "FIRST in Michigan".
  • There is no fee to park.
  • Mentor Awards (Adult and Young Adult). If the student team members would like us to consider one of their the mentors for these awards, the students should submit a one page, single-sided nomination essay at registration.
  • We may not have enough field setups to provide practice tables. Please bring your mats and challenge set pieces if possible. We'll also have space for your tables if you want to make them available to everyone.
  • Project Presentations are expected to be done in five (5) minutes. We will only provide power in the rooms.  A few data projectors are available for use but please let us know ahead of time.  If you need a computer, you must bring your own.
  • Please make sure to fill out and bring three (3) copies of the Team Introduction Page.  The team should give one copy to each of their three sets of judges.
  • Pit Areas:  The pit area will be in the school cafeteria.  Each team will get (approximately) a table that is ten feet long by two feet wide with 8-10 chairs attached.
  • Bring an extension cord and a strip plug for your pit area. You'll need this to connect to the main power supplies.
  • For RCX users, teams need to use a "garage" to cover their robot during program downloads. An empty box will do. Failure to do so may cause you to inadvertently download your program into other nearby robots.
  • This is a public event. Local media may be present. Students may be photographed, videotaped or interviewed. Because of this, each student and adult is required to submit a Consent Form. If you already submitted one at your qualifying tournament, it is not necessary to turn another one in at the Championship Tournament.
  • Teams may bring "team banners". Any sign taped to a wall must be removed at the end of the event.
