Essential Questions:
 In my class we will read, discuss, and write about the human experience in different times and places.  As we go through the year, we will use these essential questions to guide our work:

Why do we read literature?
What value can something written hundreds of years ago possibly have for us today?
What purpose is there in reading something completely unrelated to our own experience?

Why do we discuss literature?
How does talking about what we read affect our understanding?
How does listening to other people’s ideas affect our understanding?

Why do we write about literature?
What role does writing play in developing our ideas from literature?
What can we learn from reading our own and others’ writing?
