Vocation

from latin for the verb "to call"

Vocation is where your deep gladness meets the world's deep need. --Frederick Buechner

As a contemplative, I am interested in spirituality--the impulse we have for self-transcendance; our longing to be touched by the divine.  I yearn to find God and to be found by God.

As a Christian, my focus is Christian spirituality.  One of my primary joys as a pastor is helping people encounter God in every context.  I love designing worship, a business meeting, outreach or workshop in such a way that invites people to be vulnerable to God.

As a psychologist I view growth through the lens of developmental models. I believe we continue to grow and evolve throughout our lifetime.  I look for signposts on the human journey.  Most of my work lies in the intersection of these three vectors: Christian spiritual development.

My essential vocation is as a mystagogue, one who introduces people to that deep mystery we call God, source of all healing, grace and life.  Although I do not fathom the divine mystery any better than anyone else, it is my gift to point others into God's direction.
