Teresa of Avila was a woman, a mystic and a reformer.  She launched a movement that has nurtured the spiritual lives of many people.  After all these centuries, her writings help me on my spiritual journey.  Each day I hope to find and to be found by God.

One place I look for God is in worship:  the communal hearing of the gospel and gathering around the Lord's table.  In the last two thousand years, Christians have discovered many ways to create compelling worship.  But those practices are embedded in different traditions.  I like to bring practices from different traditions together (i.e. praying the stations of the cross with social justice issues).

For me, contemplative prayer is a source of strength and inspiration.  I long for an immediate experience with God, so sit I in silence every day.  Some days I have a distinct awareness of God's presence.  Other days I am bored and restless!  But I know  that God is present and working in my life, no matter what I feel.

I believe authentic prayer and worship is a communal practice that creates compassion.  I look for God in commmunity in which we care deeply about each other, our neighbors and the world.  In a compassionate community, our faith gives us hope that we can help create a better world.

I am blessed.  My spiritual journey has been guided, supported and nourished by many caring communities of faith.  The pages of this website has snippets of  my spiritual journey.  I hope they inspire your own search for God.
