Knowing how to play endgames increases your knowledge of what the pieces can do. A good endgame is always preferred over a good opening book knowledge. Here is a list of diiferent positions you can play through and explore.
You should first start by reading through the endgame principles, before exploring the different endgames, to gain a deeper insight into the reasoning of both White and Black's play. Principles and "rules" are fundamental building blocks from which we can build a strong endgame knowledge. It is assumed that the reader knows how to mate with a Queen or Rook, so once an endgame reaches this stage (Queen/Rook and King versus King) It is assumed to be won for the side in the ascendency.
