I am a scholar manqué, a wannabe scholar, with interests in natural history and Greek and Latin literature.

I earned the following degrees: B.A. (Latin) from the University of Maine; B.S. (Computer Science) from Central Michigan University; M.A. (Latin) from the University of Virginia; and Ph.D. (Classics) from the University of Virginia.

Now retired, I used to work as a computer programmer (at Paradyne Corporation, Bell Northern Research, and Nortel) and as a paralegal (at Nationwide Insurance).
