Nick Rose Day

Nick Rose Day (NRD) is a holiday celebrated across the United States to commemorate a man named Nicholas Walker Rose.  The formal date of the holiday is December 8.  It is generally celebrated on either the Saturday before or the Saturday after the 8th of December.  The 2009 Nick Rose Day holiday was celebrated on December 12, 2009 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at Jose Pistola's.  The theme song from this year's Nick Rose Day, selected by Nick Rose himself, is now available:

Initiated on December 8, 2004 by Section 5 of the Harvard Law School class of 2007, the holiday is designed to celebrate the good that exists in this world - good that is demonstrated by Nick Rose.  While the day was first meant to symbolize the "good guy", a guy who often finished last at a place like Harvard Law School, it has come to represent truth, love, and the American way.  The holiday has received recognition from media sources including the Harvard Law Record, the newspaper of Harvard Law School.  In an article from March 24, 2006, Harvard Law Record reporter Anna Brooks explicitly referenced "Nick Rose Day," an HLS holiday initiated by Section 5 members on December 8, 2004."

In addition, Andrew Woods, a candidate for HLS Class Marshall, referenced his activities as the coordinator of "Nick Rose Day Bar Review" as part of his qualifications for the job.

There is a yearly celebration to commemorate Nick Rose Day, with the scale of the celebrations expanding every year as more and more people discover the importance of kindness, America, apple pie, and Nick Rose.  There are also a series of Facebook pages designed to help coordinate NRD celebrations each year.

The 2004 Nick Rose Day celebration received several endorsements from professors at the prestigious Harvard Law School:

1. Professor Alan Dershowitz commenced the day by wishing everyone a Happy Nick Rose Day.  Students brought Nick Rose candy.  At least half the women in Rose'ssection recognized the day by wearing red or pink. Unfortunately for Nick, Professor Dershowitz put Rose on panel (a term for a law student who is called upon to answer questions by the professor), so the plan backfired.

2. Professor David Barron, who taught the Property Law class for Section 5, opened class on December 8, 2004, by wishing the students a "Happy Nick Rose Day".

3. Professor Susan Stone, a visiting professor at the Harvard Law School during the fall 2004 semester, wished Section 5 a "Happy Nick Rose Day".  During class, she used Nick Rose as the exemple in all of her hypothetical legal scenarios during the semester.  Some of Nick Rose's female fans interrupted the class and brought a bouquet of roses and a card to him.

Common holiday traditions:
-Dressing in red or pink (in honor of Nick Rose's last name)
-Drinking Coors Light, since it is Nick Rose's favorite beer
