Saying Good-Byes

Loja MK Academy and Students
We ended the school year well. Our students made us proud as we showed them off at our End of the Year Program where their families, missionaries, and Ecuadorian friends came to watch. The five older students (and Micah) did a great job quoting the whole book of Philippians.

They preformed African songs as they studied cultures in Africa at school. Our younger kids shared a memorized poem and a few Bible songs they have learned (along with the rest of us). We’ve tremendously enjoyed this year with our students and are sad to see it end. Life brings changes. Yet we will carry with us our many memories made with our students, many which are hilarious (and cultural). We know our students will continue to grow without us. And so, we can’t wait to hear and see what God has for each of them in the future! To our students we quote Philippians 1:27b, “Then, whether [we] come and see you or only hear about you in [our] absence, [we] will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel.”

We will be praying for them as they continue to learn in school and grow in Christ and for the parents as they teach their kids in a co-op schooling environment. We also continue to pray for teachers for the Loja MK Academy for this coming year and future years.

Youth Group
Our last gathering was definitely focused on our leaving. Many thank yous and good-byes were shared from church leaders, parents of the kids, and from the kids themselves. We were honored by this show of gratitude.

Micah gave a last charge to the kids to keep reading their Bibles and focusing on Christ after reflecting on all that we’ve read together the last two years from the Bible.

Afterwards, Johanna led the group in singing as a response to proclaiming God’s amazing love. Of course we sang “Faraón, Faraón” (adapted from Pharaoh, Pharaoh by the Greenwoods), which has become a favorite after preparing it for the kids’ club put on in March. Things can seem wonderful and sad when one leaves. We know hardships still exist and so

please continue to pray with us that the adolescence of Cordero de Dios remain focused on Christ and proclaim God’s message to others around them.

Jóvenes Group
Being a part of this group has really given Micah a place to speak into Julio’s life (the main leader) in regards to leading a Bible study from the Bible. We will continue to pray for Julio and for the Jóvenes group that it will become a vehicle in which God will use to bring others to know Him personally.

Ecuadorian Friends
We say good-bye to our Ecuadorian friends, particularly Oswaldo. Please continue to pray with us for Oswaldo!

SIM Missionaries
We are saying good-bye to missionary friends we’ve worked with here in Ecuador over the pass two years. There’s a good chance we’ll see some in the near future (maybe some will come visit us or vice versa). At least we know that one day we will meet again in heaven praising our God together with the Ecuadorian believers we have worked with and those who have come to know Jesus Christ because Christ has been preached!

Newsletters
I’m sad to say that this is our last official newsletter. And so, we say good-bye to the monthly updates and times to share our reflections on what God is doing in our lives. You know where to find us. So if you miss hearing from us, let us know!!
A big thank you to all for your prayers and financial support! We are fully supported and our account has been closed at SIM. We are grateful for your sacrificial giving to the ministries happening in Ecuador for the last two years. We hope you will continue to support other missions happening around the world! Thank you for your prayers as God has kept us safe as we shared Christ with missionary kids and young Ecuadorians!

Saying Hello

To Living in the States
We look forward to drinking tap water, flushing our TP down the toilet, finding certain foods at the grocery store regularly, and sharing our time in Ecuador with you in person. We ask for prayer for a smooth transition to the United States.

New Potential for Ministry
We look forward to the ministries we will be involved in when we return. Please pray for wisdom as decisions are made.

Friends and Family
We look forward to reconnecting with friends and family as well as meet the new members of our family and make new friends. Wow, things have changed since we left, but we’re excited to enter in.

We’ll be home to Washington on July 11, 2009. Hope to see you soon!
