MHS DECA INSTALLS CHAPTER PRESIDENT FOR 2012-2013

Vivian Nguyen was installed as MHS DECA's new chapter president at the Annual Luau on May 10, at Four Hills Country Club.

WHAT IS MARKETING EDUCATION & DECA AT MANZANO HIGH SCHOOL?

  • Great for those who will participate in business, work in a business, own your own business, or to prepare for any career following high school or college.

  • Get your economics credit with Business II.

  • Study economics, salesmanship, merchandising, investing, advertising, and many other business areas.

  • Experience real life business situations.

  • In your third and fourth years with DECA, take Business Management and Entrepreneurship.

 

INTERNSHIPS: A.C.E. (Academic Career Experience)  

  • Earn school credit by working in a real job, outside of school, in ACE. Most students earn over $3,500 and get 3 credits a year.

  • For Juniors and Seniors.

  • If you're going to work while in school, you might as well get credit for it!

  • There are different ACEs for different programs at MHS. The ones with the Business/DECA program offer more credit, so make sure you use the correct course codes (53061-1st year, 53064-2nd year) when you enroll.

  • DECA Certified School-Based Enterprise.

  • Practice business skills in a real-life environment by taking care of customers, purchasing sup

  • Learn the fundamentals of maximizing profit.

NETWORKING: DECA Travel & Competition

  • Compete at the New Mexico State DECA Conference in February, 2012. Meet business leaders from right here in our state and earn a trip to ICDC.
  • Chapter officers attend Western Region Leadership Conference, in Seattle, Washington, in November, 2012.
  • Qualify to attend the International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California, in April 2013. Network with business professionals and top DECA members from around the nation.
