Program Overview

This intensive training will cover Principles & Practices of Recovery and Psychosocial Rehabilitation to thoroughly prepare you for work in this rewarding field.  Your marketability will also increase through field placements which will include one-on-one interactions with potential employers.  Complete curriculum description is available here (MS-Word). The calendar for the program (which indicates classroom days versus internship days) can be found here.

Jump Start is designed to prepare participants for entry level positions in the public mental health field.  Some of the positions our recent graduates received are: Care Coordinator I, Youth Advocate II, Independent Living Specialist, Therapeutic Behavioral Specialist, Job Placement Coordinator/Job Coach, Case Manager, Recovery Counselor, Dual Diagnosis Case Manager, Peer Advocate, Counselor, Housing Coordinator, Mental Health Worker and Personal Service Coordinator I/II.
 
Is Jump Start for You?

We are looking for participants who represent a broad range of cultural & socio-economic backgrounds; graduates (with a B.A. or B.S. in any field) of all ages, interests, and work experience are encouraged to apply. The ideal participant has a commitment to social justice, enjoys working with people, wants to make a difference in other people's lives, and has an appreciation for diversity.     

Priority will be given to persons in recovery from mental illness and family members of persons with mental illness.
