May 13: Mother's Day Garden Tour in Palo Alto with Chris Jacobson
What better way to spend time with your mother than in a garden? How about spending some of it with her in four gardens? Chris Jacobson of the GardenArt Group (and one of our advisors) has offered to lead us through a small tour of three Palo Alto gardens he has designed. All are within walking distance of Gamble Garden (that would be garden #4), and we plan to meet at Gamble and walk from one garden to the next, returning to Gamble for a picnic lunch under the big oak tree. Free to members and their guests. For additional information contact Cheryl Renshaw.
June 9: Quinta Fay, Gustine, CA
This June, members of the Nor Cal Branch will have an opportunity to visit a lovely, historic ranch located in the Central San Joaquin Valley. Quinta Fay has been featured in Pacific Horticulture (October 2011) and The Mediterranean Garden (April 2012). This unique property was developed over two decades, from roughly 1926 to 1948, by the McBride family of Gustine, California. The house and garden are brimming with character, the result of the McBride family's intimate involvement in every aspect of the home's design and construction. The garden features wonderful hardscape elements, and the water-wise plant palette is largely mediterranean. Pacific Horticulture article about Quinta Fay. Interested? Email Kirsten Honeyman.
