Matthew Damigos, Ph.D.

Matthew Damigos is an Associate Professor at the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology, Ionian University, Corfu, Greece, and a member of the Laboratory on Digital Libraries and Electronic Publishing. Dr. Damigos graduated in 2004 from the Department of Applied Mathematics (major in Calculation Techniques & Software development), University of Crete, Greece, and holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (2011). In 2011, he joined the Open University of Cyprus as a Member of the Associated Educational Staff (Master’s Program in Information and Telecommunication Systems). He also worked in designing, building, and managing the implementation of a variety of (Big) data management and analytics solutions, in a variety of technology companies (e.g.,  EY, Intrasoft International, IRi, FTI, Trasys International/NRB), as well as he was involved in several research and innovation projects. His primary research interests include (big) data management systems, data lakes, distributed processing, data integration and warehousing, data governance and metadata management, large-scale analytics, Linked data, digital libraries, as well as electronic records management, digital archives, and digital preservation.
