The Presidents Cup is a match-play singles competition, played in mid-summer. Starting in 2010, the tournament will be a double-elimination format. Eight players will compete in each flight. Each person will play at least two matches.
This is a double-elimination singles match-play event which will stretch from July into August. Players will be split into flights of 8. Everyone will play at least two matches. The winner of each flight will play four, and possibly up to six matches. Money The entry fee for this event is $30. The $240 prize money (shop credit) in each flight will be paid as follows: First place $110, losing finalist $75. losing semi-finalist (only one player in double elimination) $55. Note that you can still win any of these prizes even if you lose in the first round.
Timing The sign-up deadline is July 5th. The event kicks off on July 7. You will have 12 days to play your first round match, and twelve days to play your second round match. First round must be completed by July 19, and second round to be complete by July 30. In later rounds, there will be fewer matches, so progress will be quicker.
It is up to the participants of each match to schedule the match and post the result with the pro-shop and to email Leo Clark the result. Once you know who your next opponent will be, you may schedule your next match ... there's no need to wait until all prior round matches are complete.
Red/Blue Tournament points You will receive a total of 3 participation points; plus one performance point for every match you win. The flight winner will receive one extra performance point.
Flights Players will be flighted by handicap. You may be required to play a mixed tee match. If so, the forward tee player may elect to move back a tee, and if he elects not to do so, the back tee player may elect to move to the forward tee. If neither player elects to move tees, a mixed tee match shall be played and handicaps will be adjusted accordingly.
Course selection Players may elect to play any combination of courses on which they both agree. If players cannot agree on the courses to be played, the match will revert to Valley/Hills. Handicaps Players will receive 100% of their handicap. Handicaps will be adjusted off the low handicap in each match (so if a 12 handicap plays a 7 handicap, the 12 handicap will receive 5 strokes while the 7 handicap receives none).
