Second MFFC Audio-Visual Salon - 2010

All audio-visual enthusiasts are cordially invited to enter the second Magalies Foto Fun Club (MFFC) AV salon

Salon timetable

  • 2010-02-23 - Entries close:
  • 2010-04-06 - Results announced

Entries

  • The two sections are:
    • A – Documentary and travelogue only
    • B – Open, no documentary or travelogue entries
  •  Entrants may submit one or two AVs, one per section, or two in one or other of the sections
  • AVs must be submitted on a CD or DVD
  • Each AV must be between 1 and 3 minutes in length
  • Each AV must be a self-running executable file without menus or ‘start boxes’ which run directly from a double-click
  • An electronic copy of the completed entry form must be saved on the CD/DVD with your AVs, after it is renamed with your surname and name.xls as follows: Smith John.xls (if possible, please refrain from using the Vista version of Excel)
  • Include a paper copy of the entry form with the CD/DVD for control purposes
  • Entries should be posted to MFFC AV Salon, P O Box 912805, Silverton 0127, South Africa, preferably by Counter-to-counter Speed Services courier
  • Email your entry form as well (with tracking number, if applicable) so we can confirm that your CD/DVD has arrived
  • Enquire if you do not get an email confirming receipt before the closing date
  • No entries will be returned and CD's will be destroyed after judging
  • AVs may contain the entrant’s name and can acknowledge the work of other artists (e.g. music)
  • AV entries must be named as follows:
    • Section code and sequence number-Author surname and name-entry title.exe
  • Example: A1-Smith John-The life of Jan Smuts.exe

Judging and judges

 

  • AVs will be couriered to the judges who will score them individually in their own time using a standard PSSA scoring sheet
  • AVs will be played by judges in the order of receipt by the organizers
  • We regret that judges, their spouses and close family are not eligible to enter the section in which they are judging

  • Selectors are allowed to enter this Salon

Results, awards and exhibition

  • PSSA Silver Medals will be awarded to each section winner
  • PSSA Silver Medals may not be awarded to members of the host club
  • The MFFC Chairman’s Medal will be awarded to the most successful member of MFFC
  • The Salon Director’s choice will be awarded a MFFC Medal
  • A floating trophy will be awarded to the most successful South African club (most points overall)
  • Certificates of merit and Honourable Mentions may be issued on the recommendation of judges to the top 10% of entries
  • The top 25-30% of entries in each section will be granted acceptance
  • An exhibition of winning entries will be held on 2010-04-08 at the Wesleyan Church Hall, Cecil Street, Pretoria North at 19h00. All entrants and their families are welcome to attend this event
  • The award-winning entries will be copied onto a copy-protected DVD for distribution to all entrants
  • Entrants will be advised of results by email only
  • No acceptance cards will be issued

 

Entry fee

  • The entry fee for South African participants is R50.00 for one or two AVs, which includes one copy of the Exhibition DVD
  • Overseas entrants are welcome to enter at £9.00 (or equivalent)
  • Payment by electronic transfer will be the only way to pay
  • Payment must be made directly into the following account:

  • Entries without full payment will not be judged
  • Additional copies of the Exhibition DVD may be ordered at a cost of R40.00 (all entrants will receive one free copy)
