CLASP
After School Program funded by community grants and run by Maryhurst, Inc. The CLASP program takes 25 students/semester and focus on social skills, life skills, cooperative games. There is also a weekly drug and alcohol awareness group as well as a weekly Problem Solving group. Each Friday the staff takes the student to an outing as a reward for participation through out the week. This program is FREE, provides snack and dinner as well as transportation home each evening. A student can only attend one semester a year, so the kids this fall will not participate this spring semester. This is due to grant rules and the objective to reach as many students as possible in a year. Its a great program for any student, but especially for a student that might be struggling with social interactions, having problems at home or just in need of some extra positive attention. I am starting a waiting list for the next semester, so if you have a student that might benefit from some extra structure after school as well as some fun activities just let Ms. Cecilia know and we can get him/her on the waiting list.
Dribblin' Bears
Dribblin' Bears meet twice a week and practice basketball tricks for their show that is VERY entertaining. The students do not need to have great basketball skills to be a great Dribblin' Bear! Students that are interested should see Mr. Lyles.
Fit 4 Me
This is a 6 week program run by Women 4 Women and Anthem Blue Cross Shield. This is for girls only and focusing on healthy eating, exercise and raising self esteem. The program puts on a health fair for the girls and their families as well as a couple of fun community outings. UoL college students help facilitate the activities with the kids. This is a free program.

Homework Help
Youth ages 6 - 16 are provided a quiet study area, computers, and staff assistance.
Male Mentoring Program
Peace Education of Louisville is starting a small mentoring program for boys. They will meet after school on Thursdays 3pm-4pm. Peace Education does a great job with our kids. They used to work with the Youth Service Center a couple of years ago training students to be peer mediators.
Music Box
We offer free guitar and keyboard lessons on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Music Box is funded by grants and donations and each student get a 30 min free music lesson weekly. The classes are taught by working musicians. All Music Box students to practice in the community school, so you do not need an instrument at home to be successful with the lessons.
When I get old
So, we don't have an official name for this activity yet, but we have a group of volunteers at Sojourn Church who are setting up a series of presentations for the students about different jobs. They have been hanging out with the kids and checked in what they want to know about. So far we have the following professions coming to hang out...
