US Travel Advisory

MARK MULLIGAN TRAVEL ADVISORY:

This week an American citizen was reportedly killed in Los Angeles, California. This follows a recent road rage incident in Philadelphia, PA which left an American dead, a carjacking in Cleveland, Ohio which left two Americans wounded, the reported harassing of an American motorist by a Topeka, Kansas cop and the robbery of an innocent American tourist in New York City.

I therefore urge all Americans to use extreme caution when traveling within the United States of America. In particular, I strongly urge all Americans to use the utmost of caution when traveling into the state of Arizona, due to the city of Phoenixී;s current status as the kidnapping capital of the world.

If travel to Snowflake, Arizona is absolutely necessary for business reasons, I urge you to equip yourself with a helmet and bulletproof vest, due to the outbreak of violence in that  stateී;s capital, merely hundreds of miles away.  Furthermore, I urge all Americans to avoid any exposure whatsoever to fellow citizens, due to risk of contamination in the country which leads the world in confirmed cases of the H1N1 virus.

Please refrain from shaking hands with, waving to, hugging, kissing, or speaking to any fellow citizens. Stay tuned to this website for updates regarding Americaී;s raging flu epidemic and of course, minute by minute reports of the crime wave from Miami to San Francisco that have left American citizens terrified and seeking shelter in safer places such as Mexico.
Mexico: A Safe and Affordable Vacation
Lately, there have been a lot of rumors in the news about Mexico. By now, everyone is probably aware of the travel advisory for Mexico and has read an article from the U.S. media’s campaign against Mexico. But what is the real story from people living and vacationing in this great country?

Over the last month, Mexico Living has been conducting a survey of our readers. Our questions were simple. Do you feel safe? Where do you live? And what are your feelings on the subject of safety in Mexico? Here are some of those replies. We have removed all submissions that were anonymous; these are just excerpts and sentences from the survey results. The answers in their entirety are available online in the SAFETY section of Mexico Living

It was among the most brutal homicides in recent memory. On a sunny Sunday afternoon last fall, two men jumped out of an SUV and set Marcial Sanchez on fire. The 52-year-old factory worker was engulfed in flames...

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON SAFETY IN MEXICO

Impact of U.S. Media, an Analysis
Through selective reporting, presenting information without context and insufficient analysis, U.S. media outlets have helped perpetuate the mistaken perception that Mexico, including all of Baja California, is a "drug war crisis zone" unsafe for visitors.  The net result is the conflation of President Felipe Calderón's campaign against the drug cartels with tourism in the minds of millions of ordinary Americans, who have chosen to travel elsewhere or stay home.  Media coverage of the drug war crisis has thus spawned a second, equally urgent one: Rosarito Beach's economy, like those of other areas almost entirely dependent on American tourism, has suffered a devastating revenue decline of more than 75%.
