Baja affects many people that way, but in the case of BJ Sweitzer, Baja not only became her new home—it also launched her successful career in the construction industry.

BJ Sweitzer, a mother of two and grandmother of three, was a GS-13 with the Administration for Children and Families with the U. S. Government. Later, she became a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch and began vacationing in San Felipe. She found Baja to be an oasis from big business and the world of high-level stress and after three years, she decided to build a home here. Her first contractor pursued her to be a partner. That partnership did not work out, but did introduce her to current business partner and friend Carlos Mora. Together they are Sweitzer Construction Management. She found Carlos to be an honest, honorable man in every aspect of his life, and a wonderful family man with three fine boys. They have worked together exclusively now for ten years. BJ says she loves the construction world, and the focus of her company is to be conscientious in serving clients with honesty, integrity, and commitment and works directly for the client. She views the responsibility of her company as twofold: a) the clients receive what they contract for, and, b) the permits, fees, and requirements of the Mexican government are completed, paid, and remitted properly.

BJ is fluent in Spanish, and one of her company’s strengths is in communicating the needs of her American and Canadian clients directly to the contractor.
