MRT / Singapour

Zone métro-tram : 900 000 habitants.
Zone RER : 4 500 000 habitants.
Level -2 : Great station

LEVEL -1 : Mezzanine

mrt-card ez-link to be used like a phone-card : have some money on it ; when u enter the station, check-in ; when u leave the station, check-out : then the amount corresponding on ur travel is decreased from the card.

The concept of check-in with an electronic card exists in France (not in Germany), but not the check-out concept, which allows to have more accurate prices depending of the distance. No need to have complicated tariff-zones : simply use the public transportation to go everywhere like u want.

Level -2 : Gates

Gate-doors in all underground-stations, like in France for the automatic subways (not Lyon), Kyoto...

Fred, again with his favourite bag.

The Singapore MRT : Massive Rapid Transit

A very high quality public transportation. The most modern of the world.

This is a full high quality subway in the Singapore-City.
This is a full high quality suburban train (S-Bahn, RER) in the Singapore-Island.

Quais centraux
On notera l'extreme propreté à Singapour.

Fundamental characteristics of a sub-urban train :
(le RER, die S-Bahn)

Inside the city :
  • The MRT-networks contains big very important underground stations in the city-center.
  • All MRT-lines go through these stations in the city-center (also the new circular line).
  • All the central stations are in underground.
Outside the city :
  • The MRT-lines go to all other places of the Singapore-Island.
  • The MRT-lines are outside the city-center on surface. Very good in Singapore: without any cross with the other-surface vehicules (like car, bus, other train, pedestrians)
The TVs in the stations display informations about the train, but also about the security : low criminality doesn't mean no criminality, and more generally they invit people to be carefull on possible bombs from terrorists...

Short historical information about the city: the island was empty in 1800. The english took it and created a Harbour. In order to develop the industry, they let people immigrate massively... and now 80% of the people are chinese, 20% indian. Now, the richest and biggest harbour and country of the region. From the people, Singapore is essentially chinese... but this has nothing to do with the country China.
