About us

Merton Art Society is an art group which meets one Tuesday a month for talks, practical sessions and critique sessions. It also exhibits twice a year. Everyone is welcome (complete beginners, painters and non-painters). We have a membership of 60 at Feb. 2011.

• Demonstrations

  The group watches demonstrations from professional demonstrators on different aspects of painting, such as landscapes, portraits, water colours, oil painting, acrylics, mixed media or pastels. Our evenings are well attended due to the high quality of demonstrators. There is a break for free tea and biscuits and a chance to chat with fellow members.

•  Nine Merton Art Society Members took part in the first ever Merton Arts Trail. We participated from The Gallery, Wimbledon Park Rd. We felt the Art trail was a great success, and our group sold four paintings totalling £630. The trail brought the society to a wider audience and we have new members as a result.
