File naming and organization is critical to saving time and preventing problems. Use agreed upon conventions for both folders and file names.

Example: Files for a newsletter or magazine

Folders

1. Original
2. Images
3. Text
4. Publication

File Naming Possibilities

I have a file that is an original image that needs editing to be included in the publication

I need to know:

• what kind of file it is
• what stage of production it's in
• when it was created
• who created it
