About Me

I hate writing about myself, partly because, since I'm using pseudonym, I'm never quite sure who "I" am.  Nevertheless, most people seem to want to know at least a little about the authors whose work they read.

The name Meredith Morgan is a pseudonym. It is my online identity and brand.  I am an indie author of novels for and about strong women.  My novels are available as eBooks on Smashwords.

The woman behind the name is a middle aged, divorced mother of a beautiful, vivacious college co-ed. I work full-time for a large corporation. I was raised in a very small town in the Midwest, but have roots in the small town Deep South as well. I now live in Florida.

I am an eclectic reader, student and life-long learner. I love to read and ponder both history and literature. For me, history is Story that is as powerful as fiction, and fiction should tell the Truth even if the facts are made up. I love Scripture, too. The Bible is a treasure trove of literary archetypes, symbols, and allegory waiting to be mined. I don't take it literally, but I take it very seriously.

I have traveled widely in the U. S., both for pleasure and business. I've camped in the Tetons and stayed in five-star hotels in San Francisco, ratty fish camps in the Florida Keys and a couple of haunted historic hotels. My memories and collected stories from those trips often bubble up when I am writing, which allows my characters to go to some swell places!

In preparation for writing this bio, I pondered the books that I have read and loved over the years. What I discovered was that I will read practically anything somebody writes, simply because I love words and stories and I think that if somebody took the time to write a story, I'm willing to give it a shot. My favorite novels tend to be those that feature strong main characters who are basically good people struggling to do the right thing -- sometimes the “noble” thing. I do not like “anti-heroes” or stories whose main character is a villain.  (I do not write those kinds of novels, either.)

As for what I do write about: my novels are character driven stories about ordinary, good and decent people who occasionally do extraordinary things, but who mostly do ordinary things extraordinarily well. My main characters tend to be strong (but somewhat quirky) females, typically facing a life transition of some sort.
