MERC

a novel by Phillip Lee Edwards

When Captain Michael O’Hara receives the shocking news that his parents have been murdered in their sleep along with their bodyguard and his wife at their rancho, he takes a leave of absence from his post of commander of the American military police detachment in West Berlin. After attending the funeral, he travels to New York to find that his inheritance of his father’s financial empire has been stolen. After two attempts are made to assassinate him, he and his friend Jesus flee to Europe where they join the French Foreign Legion. Later they form their own unit of mercenary soldiers for hire. They fight in wars in Africa, the Middle East, and South America.

With the help of friends among the mercenary soldiers of fortune, they learn the identities of their parent’s killers, and return to New York to confront them.

Michael, the main character in MERC, is the son of Sean and Margarita O'Hara from the book, THAT DAMNED IRISHMAN. His friend, Jesus, is the son of Miguel, one of the heroes of The SACRED LANDS and an important character in The AMBASSADOR, who saves the life of Margarita's grandfather, Rafael Alvarez, and serves as his lifelong bodyguard.

This is an exciting modern day adventure of a mercenary soldier which leads us into assassination, fraud, betrayal, warfare, espionage, loyalty, love, discovery and revenge.
