CROSBY'S RECEIPTS

Great Job Memorial School Families!!!!

$193,000.00 worth of Crosby's receipts were collected
in the 2008 - 2009 school year!
The teachers ordered their products and they will be delivered to the school by the beginning of the 2009 school year.

A HUGE you to Mary Coyne, Nora Hannifin and Becky Roy for
collecting, counting and recounting all those receipts!

During the first week of March 2009 we launched a new program called the PTO Power Hour that emphasizes that all help, any help makes a huge difference in our school.
If we can get every Memorial School parent/guardian to commit just 1 or 2 hours to helping out,
we can continue to do amazing things for our kids and our school.

We would like to thank all the Power Hour Volunteers who helped out by selling tickets to the
PTO Movie Night showing of Madagascar 2

The PTO would like to extend a big ‘Thank You’ to the Memorial School families for your generous
donations to Coats for Kids, The Giving Tree to support HAWC and
Wellspring, the food drive to support The Cape Ann food pantry, and
the gift cards to help support local families in need. Your donations made
a BIG difference during these difficult economic times.

A special thank you to Anne Ranger for organizing the Holiday Helping Hands
opportunities mentioned above. We know you took countless trips back and forth to
deliver the donations so, thank you for your time, energy and thoughtfulness.

Spaghetti Supper - The spaghetti supper was a huge success!!  What a wonderful collaboration of parents and teachers resulting in a great family-oriented night out.  So many people helped out with this event that raised almost $2000 for the principal’s discretionary fund.

Huge thanks go to Jessica Lamothe, event organizer.

Our Spaghetti Supper Parent Volunteers!

Kelly Zaval, Dorothy Athanas, Sara Harper, Penny Boling, Cindy Dodge, Megan Meek, Carol Mastendino, Alyson O’Hara, Tracey Martin, Faye Welty, Jen Coles, Penny Boling, Kathy & Bob Masella, Jack Mara and all the wonderful teachers that helped serve and  parents that baked the yummy deserts.

Many, many thanks to all the families who participated in the food drive to aid the Cape Ann Food Pantry.

We collected 296 pounds of food.

We will let you all know if more help is needed in the future.

Thanks to Ann Ranger for organizing the Coat and Can Drive.

As always your support is very much appreciated,

The PTO

Book Fair Chairs

There are lots of folks who work to make the Book Fair so great for the children and teachers.  Pam, Lee, Lalie and Becky from The Bookshop of Beverly Farms are a dream to work with, provide us with quality books for the kids and teachers, and have an infinite amount of patience for all of our special orders and last minute requests.  Classroom teachers give us early book requests, get children coordinated, help them with choices, and have to work around changes in the library schedule. Thank you to Nurse Seaman for her help every fair. Thank you to parents who support their children's enthusiasm for reading by purchasing new books at the Fair. Many parents were also able to come in with their children during school hours or during the Spaghetti Supper evening hours. Parents also purchased and donated all of the books on the school library Wish ListMegan Meek, PTO Treasurer, always helps us keep our numbers straight. And a huge thank you to Samantha Silag, our school librarian, who cheerfully allows the library to be turned upside down for a week and provides an invaluable resource to all who work with or shop at the sale, and to the Staff at Memorial who support the endeavor.

Of course, the sale would not happen without so many great parent volunteers.  This year we had great volunteer response, in part to a very organized effort by the leadership of the PTO.

Sincerely,

Kelly Zaval and Suzanne Finn
