Competition Details
1. The competition is scheduled to be held at Riffs Bar, Greatfield, Nr. Swindon and
consist of:
- Heat 1: Friday 2nd October
- Heat 2: Thursday 8th October
- Heat 3: Friday 16th October
- Heat 4: Thursday 22nd October
- Final: Friday 6th November
2. Heats:
- Each Heat will commence at approx. 9pm.
- One band from each Heat will be selected for the Final by a panel of
Judges.
- An audience vote will also be counted for each band.
- Each band may play a set up to 30 minutes in length.
3. Final:
- To commence at approx. 8:30pm and contain 5 bands, consisting of the 4 bands
selected by the Judges in the Heats, joined by the band who (excluding the Judges
selections) had the most audience votes in the Heats.
- The winning bands will be selected by another panel of Judges.
- Each band may play a set up to 20 minutes in length.
Prizes1. 1st prize:
. 3 days recording and production of a master CD containing a maximum of 4 tracks/20 minutes.
. The band will be required to confirm they are the copyright owners of the material to be recorded.
. Access to the recording facility is limited to the band members who win the competition.
. There is no cash alternative.
2. 2nd prize - £100 cash.
3. 3rd prize - £50 cash.
4. 4th prize - £50 cash.
5. 5th Prize - £50 cash.
Band Equipment1. A house drum kit will be used by all bands in the competition, although bands must
bring their own Snare Drum, Kick Pedal, Seat and Cymbals.
2. A house bass guitar amp will be used by all bands in the competition.
3. All bands must bring their own guitars, guitar amps etc. Any kit sharing
must be arranged between and agreed by the bands before the Heat or Final.
General Terms & Conditions
1. The competition is open to any band (2 or more members) in which the eldest member
is under 21 years of age on the date of the Final. Proof of age may be requested.
2. No guarantees are offered in relation the competition, including that it may be altered,
rescheduled or in an extreme case, cancelled.
3. The maximum time permitted for each band's set is 30 minutes for a Heat and 20 minutes
in the Final.
4. Backing tracks are not permitted for any part of a band performance.
5. Winning bands from previous MEMM Battle Of The Bands competitions may not enter.
6. The band members (or parent(s)/guardians if under 18) warrant that:
- Any equipment provided by the band members will be good working order, safe and fit for purpose.
- No part of the performance will be a danger to the band members or any other person(s).
- The band/members(s) are not under any contract to a third party that might preclude performing in
the competition. The band/artist(s) take sole responsibility in the event of any subsequent issue(s).
PA
A full PA system including microphones, monitors etc. and sound engineer will be
provided.
