There are a few pay-for services out there for synchronized-display lyrics on the iPod, but only for certain models (color and up). I have an older iPod mini, and rockbox with the sncviewer plugin is the only solution available for this type of functionality.

After a simple install of rockbox, a certain plugin must be copied into the rockbox plugins directory (labled Rocks). This plugin will allow for the display of synchronized lyrics on the:

• iPod (video, nano, mini, photo)
• Toshiba Gigabeat F
• iRiver H1XX/H3XX (h10, h120, h140, h320, h340)
  
• iAudio X5.

Lyrics will be displayed in a few conditions: If the lyrics are embedded in an mp3 /sylt/ tag (can be achieved by Minilyrics) or if an .lrc of the same name as a music file (eg. MrJones.wma and MrJones.lrc) are in the same folder (.snc lyrics files are also supported). Downloads are available here.
