Some 36 years ago I was given a 4.5 inch Newtonian reflector by my father and I quickly discovered that I had a love of Astronomy after seeing the rings of Saturn and the Orion Nebula.

36 years later I found that my passion for imaging the night sky was growing and so was the equipment list I was using.

My objective has always been to keep it simple and interesting and to share what I have learned over so many years with others who are just starting out !

Initially I started imaging through an SBIG ST6 and 10 inch LX200 and  discovered the wonderful world and pain of Astro-imaging with a small cooled CCD chip B/W  camera.

I now image with a Canon 40D , 350D and SBig ST8300M ccd cameras through a variety of scopes and these pages contain images of deep sky objects that some 5 years ago would have been difficult had it not been for the evolution of the DSLR and all the wonderful possibilities it brings to amateur astronomers at an affordable price.

These days I am a member of the Wollongong Amateur Astronomy Club who are a great group of people that share a common love of studying and imaging the night sky and sharing their experiences and differing expertise.

We have people from all walks of life and they all share their respective talents with the club.

This Website is my evolving journey into this exciting area of science and my quest to try and grasp its wonders and complexity as simply as it can be and to pass that understanding onto others.

It is also dedicated to  my wonderful late Father and mother who encouraged learning in science and mathamatics whilst I was growing up.

That 4.5 inch reflector given to me way back in 1975 opened my eyes !

Our group meets 1st thursday of every month at Unanderra Community Hall from 7.30pm.

We also go out for many viewing and imaging nights throughout the year (weather permitting).
