ABBREVIATED GUIDELINES FOR APPOINTING MBEA EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS
Qualifications for Appointment or Election: · Must be an active member of the Maryland Business Education Association for a minimum of three years immediately prior to assuming office. · Must submit resume which demonstrates evidence of leadership. · Must be a current member of MBEA. · Must have attended at least one MBEA conference during the past two years.
ARTICLE VII—NOMINATION AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS AND EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS Section 1 The election of officers and executive board members shall be held annually.
Section 2 The nominating committee shall consider and propose a single slate of officers, executive board members, and a representative to the MVA Executive Board. Guidelines for receiving nominations will be published in the MBEA Newsletter.
Section 3 No more than two officers at the time of their nomination may be employed in the school system or educational institution as the person nominated for president.
Section 4 The executive board regional members shall be elected for a term of two years. For the purpose of this representation, the following regions are established. Representatives shall not be elected from the same county for two consecutive terms.
Section 5 The nominating committee’s slate of nominations and guidelines for nominations from the floor shall be published in the MBEA Newsletter. Section 6 After the nominating committee report is presented and accepted; additional nominations may be made from the floor. Each nominee will have two minutes to present their qualifications.
Section 7 Officers and other executive board members shall be elected by voice vote, unless there is a contested nomination. Contested nominations shall be decided by ballot.
Section 8 Officers and other executive board members shall take office at the time of their election and shall hold office until the expiration of their term. The year for elected office shall be from annual meeting to the next annual meeting.
Section 9 With the exception of the treasurer and membership chairperson, retiring officers, executive board members, MVA representative, and appointees to the executive board shall turn over to the succeeding member at that annual business meeting copies of their files relating to association affairs which they have conducted during their term of office. The files from appointees are to be turned over to the president if the succeeding appointee has not been designated. The retiring treasurer and membership chairperson shall turn over to the incoming treasurer and membership chairman all books, records, files, and monies at the first executive board meeting following the annual meeting or at the next executive board meeting. |
