2012 is starting to shape up in the McVetta Racing garage. As you can see above, the Koyan Racing owned, McVetta Racing operated super modified is starting to come together. A big thank you goes out to Dave and Michelle Koyan for the opportunity to pilot their racer part time in the 2012 season. The plan is to run the sprint car full time after the 2012 Buckeye Super Sprint championship and fill in our off weekends with the super modified. The 2011 championship winning Rocket chassis is being disassembled for a thourough inspesction as well as a new 2012 Rocket chassis in works in addition to the super modified. The super modified is scheduled to be completed in time for April practices, where as the new sprint car is scheduled to debut mid season. So far it has been a very busy off season for McVetta racing and it looks like the 2012 season will be no different. Stay tuned for more updates as the winter continues!!

For the second year strait, the Cavalcade was realy good to McVetta Racing. Saturdays preliminaries were not the best for us but neither was the weather. We qualified 2nd quick with a time of 16.20, a full second off where we should be, the weather and track conditions were just that bad. The heat race also was not very good with a third place finish. The gusting winds and cold, damp conditions just made good racing imposible. Sunday was a completely different day with breaks of sunshine and light winds, and the lap time really came down. In practice the car ran it's quickest time to date, 15.19, and it only got better in the feature. We were slated to start 9th, behind the inversion. The car really was not very good at the begining, it just seemed to have a constant push. We made it up to 5th and I thought that was as far as we would go, then I tried the outside groove. Generally if the car pushes down low, it really pushes in the second groove, but that was not the case this day. The car really hooked up in the outside groove coming out of the corners, so that's where I set sail, on the highside. Within a few more laps we flew into 3rd right on the heels of the top 2. With about 15 laps to go, the 2nd place car spun trying to pass the leader. From there it was duel, myself and Danny Shirey put on a heck of a show as I set sail on the highside for several laps trying to get around Danny. With about 10 to go I made it stick coming out of turn 2 and ran away. The car ran it's quickest time ever, a 15.12, with several laps in the mid to high 15.1's, which was good because with 5 laps to go, the car started to run out of fuel. We limped to the checkers to finish out the year with 4 wins in a row as well as 2 Cavalcades in a row. Overall hands down this is the best year we have ever had in racing. Out of 11 races we had 6 wins, 2 seconds, 1 fourth, 1 ninth, 1 DNF, and 1 track record, just an amazing year. I can not thank my sponsors enough, Perfection Fabricators, Banks Manufacturing, ProFox, Northern Ohio Roofing and Sheet Metal, Icandi graphics, DB3 Imaging, Reeds Salvage, The Fourth Turn Crazies, Tom Scheel, Chicken Lakner, and Joe Strohsack; you guys are the best!!! 2012 will once again be an interesting year as we will once again plan to unveil another new Rocket Chassis with even more inovative and interesting designs. Thank you to all that supported us in 2011, and we hope to see everyone again in 2012.

This past weekend was a pretty amazing weekend for McVetta racing. It started with Saturday's race at Sandusky being canceled due to rain Friday evening. This was big because with our current points lead, we have clinched the Buckeye Super Sprint Championship without even showing up for the last race!!! Next, I recieved a call from Jim Paller Saturday morning inquiring if I would drive his super modified that afternoon, I said hell yeah!!! It was a very hectic morning getting the car loaded up and on it's way to Motordrome speedway in Smithton, Pa. We got there, got unloaded, I got the belts adjusted, and it was time to fire engines. Without even getting out of the car from firing the engine, we hit the track for the first practice. The car was insanely loose. We made several adjustments in practice and wound up 10th quick. Next was the heat race where we ended up 5th, good enough to make the inversion. We were set to start on the pole of the feature. In the heat race I started becoming very comfortable in the car and it showed in the feature. I raced side by side with Denny fisher for 2 laps before taking the lead. It was an amazing feeling, my first race for the Paller family and I'm leading the feature!!!! The car was good, I didn't feel any pressure from behind, then we got into lapped traffic around lap 30. At this point I think the right rear got a little overheated because the car started to get looser and looser as the laps went on. On lap 32, we lost our lead to good friend Trent Stephens. The car continued to get looser and we ended up finishing 6th after the 50 lap race. Overall a very good night considering I had never even sat in the car until Saturday afternoon. I would like to send a huge thank you to the Paller family for the oppourtunity to drive their racer for the night, it was a ton of fun with some good results. Next up for us is the Sandusky Cavalcade back aboard the sprint car with hopes of going 4 in a row!!
