About Me

Your partner in your child's education

Mrs. McClain

I teach Thursdays and Fridays.

I am a graduate of UCLA and UC Berkeley.

I have my Professional Clear Multiple Subject Credential with CLAD as well as a Master’s in Educational Psychology.

My husband and I grew up in Northern California.

We moved to the South Bay five years ago and we love it!

As soon as we moved down here, I was hired to teach first grade at Center Street School.

I taught there for two years before taking a year off for maternity leave.

This is my third year at Richmond.

This is my thirteenth year teaching elementary school.

I've taught K, 1st and 2nd.

My husband and I have a 3 year old son.

I have 4 sisters!

I lived in Hawaii and taught Kindergarten there.

I enjoy reading, cooking and taking walks on the beach near my home.

My goals for the year are:

· To further develop your child’s many skills and talents through cooperative learning, hands-on experiences, exploration, and real life experiences;

· To model acceptance of diverse ideas in preparation for the real world in which there is seldom one correct solution to a problem;

· To encourage your child to value himself/herself and others;

· To encourage in your child a love of reading;

· To support and challenge your child in his/her learning with the goal that your child will become a self-motivated, life-long learner.

I teach Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I am a graduate of UCLA, CSULA, Chapman University and Loyola Marymount University.

I have my Professional Clear Multiple Subjects and Single Subject Credentials with CLAD as well as a Master’s in Education in Curriculum and Instruction, a California Literacy Specialist Certificate and second MA in Education in Child and Adolescent Literacy.
