The MCFLA Bull Blast 2009 was just that…a blast! With a record turnout, the event received high praise and many accolades from the public. All who entered this year’s Bull Blast gave an outstanding performance. The only thing we would change, if we could, would have been the weather, but, this is Texas! The winners of the event were as follows:

The Bull Riding Competition was won by one of Matagorda County’s citizens, Mr. John Fitzgerald of Lane City.

Mutton Bustin’ 1st place winners are Lane Vavra of Palacios, Brianna Garza of Bay City and Ashante Austin of Bay City.

Jr. Steer Saddling winning team was made up Tyler Ashcraft, Ryan Ashcraft and Brandon Simons. All were students of Bay City High School.

The sponsor who won the “8 seconds to Vegas” contest was Columbus Livestock. That sponsor will receive a $300 travel voucher and National Final Rodeo Tickets in Las Vegas, NV.

We want to thank all who helped make the 2009 Bull Blast a great success…performers, volunteers, sponsors, parents and all those who came to watch. We are already gearing up for the 2010 Matagorda County Fair and Rodeo. Our theme will be “A Treasure Chest of Matagorda’s Best!” Vendor and Sponsorship requests are being taken at this time.
