Following the sad loss of our pastor, Rev Elder Jean White, who passed away November 2010, we are pleased to announce that Rev Margarita Sanchez de Leon will start her position as provisional pastor of MCC South London on 1 May 2011. Sunday services continue to take place each week as per details on this website, and our doors are open, so please come and join us in worship.

“Beloved sisters and brothers, peace be with you. With great humbleness and gratitude I accept your calling to be your pastor. God is calling me to continue my journey and is leading me to MCC South London to be with you. From now we will be sharing our joys and also our challenges. I know that God will guide us to green pastures and still waters. Thanks again for this opportunity to serve you.

Rev.C. Margarita Sanchez De Leon

 

Rev. Carmen Margarita Sánchez De León (Margarita) was born in Puerto Rico and has been living in London since March 2008, until recently serving as pastor for MCC East London.

Rev. Sánchez De León worked for over twenty years in grassroots organizations addressing issues of human rights violations, political prisoners, women’s rights and LGBT rights. She has a Master of Arts in Religion from the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico and a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from the University of Puerto Rico. She was ordained by the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches in 1998.

 

Prior to her move to London, Rev. Sánchez De León served as both Executive Director of Amnesty International Puerto Rico and as Senior Pastor of MCC Cristo Sanador.

 

Rev. Sánchez De León is married to Frida and they have a daughter and a son, Oshadi and Siboney.
