I have been a teacher for over 16 years. I have taught Arabic and
Islamic studies to young children and children at the Elementary School
level for over 14 years as well as taught other subjects. I have a
natural knack for teaching and I enjoy it very much. Wafa Ibrahim I have a BS degree in Liberal Studies from National University. I taught at Al Huda Islamic School where I assumed all responsibilities of special classroom teacher, including communication with parents, staff meetings, designing curriculum, and lesson plans. I introduced basic Islamic studies and the concept of Tawheed. I have endeavored to enrich and develop Islamic views of children raised in the west. I am an expert in using hands on projects to implement successful teaching techniques that are very helpful in helping children learn to recognize letters of the Arabic alphabet and numbers. I have excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English. Halat Qadir Bahawa Nimaga Hend Khalil I’ve seen the world through the eyes of a teacher and a mom. Born and raised in Alexandria , Egypt I always found a love in teaching, defined by the ability to create a learning environment designed to develop the cognitive, emotional, creative, and social skills of children. I learned to use various means such as art projects and constructive play to promote interest in Arabic and Islam for students, who live in a country where they aren’t surrounded by it all the time. My first step in becoming a teacher was attending the Alexandria University and earning my Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature. English would definitely not be my last language, as I went on to study French at the cultural center in Alexandria for 14 years, as well as Japanese in Japan , where I gave birth to my first son, Omar. I took part in a committee for social and cultural interactions of preschool, children in the Yagiyama district in Sendai . From Japan , I traveled back to Egypt where I gave birth to my daughter Nour, and I worked as an Arabic-English translator in the Administration office of Global Trade Inc. Working in the business world was not satisfying to my energy and creativity, so I moved into teaching French and English at a language school in Cairo, kindergarten through elementary grades. Moving to the United States would mean that I’d leave my classes, but Sundance Elementary and Black Mountain Middle School would be where I spent my weekdays volunteering. Somehow I managed to find my way into the MCC community, where I became a teacher for 4 years, with the purpose of making Arabic and Islam something kids looked forward to at the end of their week, and a place to make new friends and apply moral guidance in their everyday lives.
