We are located just outside Sheffield in a picturesque valley.  It is a peaceful place, well suited to exploring the wonders of God's creation.  A small congregation with a mix of ages,  we are evangelical in a traditional way, but are open to change and God's leading.  At the present time we are seeking guidance about different ways of presenting the gospel for the 21st century (and beyond!).  If you feel led to contribute to these developments, please get in touch.

Church Twinning.
We have been rwinned with a small church in north India, in a small place called Asoha.  More details are to be found on the "Church Twinning" page.
History of the church.
The church dates back to 1872 when a Mr J.A. Grange of Mayfield House converted part of one of his barns into a preaching house.  Worshippers grew in numbers to 68, with a Sunday school of about 100 scholars.  After Mr Grange's death, the new owners required the barn and in 1896 the present chapel opened, the cost was in the region of £550.
Many different activities have taken place over the years, some still continue.  The triptych based on the Mayfield Valley was painted for the centenary celebrations in 1996.  The original building was extended by the addition of a schoolroom at the rear, in the early 1990s.  This makes the premises more flexible for activities in addition to Sunday worship.

A prayer:
Hello God, I have never prayed and I don't know how to start so this is .........................(say your name).  Take me as I am, with all that I am.  Come into my life and help me start afresh with you.  Amen.

If you have said this prayer and would like to find a fellow friend in faith that can take the next step with you, please contact the pastors, Susannah or Jonathan (see above for email address).

Important News.

During February there are builders in the church building doing the alterations to the toilets.  This means that we have no toilet facilities for this period.
There will be no activities at Mayfield Chapel during this period.
On Sundays 12th and 19th February we shall be worshipping at the Philadelphia Church on Upperthorpe Road.  We hope to return to our own property for the 26th February.

Charity Project.
This year until June 2012 we shall be supporting the Wesleyan Reform Union's appeal to provide latrines in Africa.  If you would like a jar to collect your small change in support of this appeal, please contact us or ask at chapel.  One suggestion is that people place the jar on the lavatory cistern and make a small thanks offering when they use it.  Jars should be returned to chapel at the start of June 2012.
